Monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2) levels across representative lecture theatres, teaching laboratories and large offices spaces with mechanical ventilation will be rolled out proactively over the coming months.
Spaces will be prioritised for assessment based on stated or identified needs.
CO2 concentration is an internationally accepted method to assist in identifying areas where ventilation may need improvement.
In well-ventilated indoor spaces, CO2 should stay below 1000 ppm to maintain air quality, and UQ has adopted this range as its target in line with industry and public health standards.
