UQ statement of condolence and solidarity with the Jewish community

On behalf of the University of Queensland, we offer our deepest sympathies to the Jewish community following the horrific and deplorable attack in Sydney on Sunday 14 December, the first night of Hanukkah.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the broader Jewish community at this very difficult time.

We are deeply saddened and appalled about this event. Antisemitism, racist violence and hatred have no place in Australian society.

The University is committed to working with the UQ’s Jewish community, Australia’s Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism, Jillian Segal AO and the government to stamp out antisemitism.

We stand united as a community against antisemitism.
