Neal M. Ashkanasy OAM, PhD is an Emeritus Professor of Management at the UQ Business School at the University of Queensland in Australia. He came to academe in after an 18-year career in water resources engineering. He received his PhD in social/organizational psychology from the same university. His research is in leadership, organizational culture, ethics, and emotions in organizations, and his work has been published in leading journals including the Academy of Management Journal and Review, the Journal of Organizational Behavior, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. He is Associate Editor for Emotion Review and Series Co-Editor of Research on Emotion in Organizations. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Organizational Behavior and Associate Editor for the Academy of Management Review and Academy of Management Learning and Education. Prof. Ashkanasy is a Fellow of the Academy for the Social Sciences in the UK (AcSS) and Australia (ASSA); the Association for Psychological Science (APS); the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP); Southern Management Association (SMA), and the Queensland Academy of Arts and Sciences (QAAS). In 2017, he was awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia.

Chia-Yen (Chad) Chiu is an Associate Professor in Leadership and the Head of Management Discipline at the UQ Business School. He received his PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, USA. As a behavioural scientist specialising in leadership and organisational behaviour, his research focuses on how line managers—the critical bridge between organisational strategy and employees’ daily experiences—can become more productive and resilient. He is particularly interested in leader humility as a developmental resource that enables managers to build stronger teams, foster emerging leadership, and sustain organisational performance over time. Before joining UQ, he held academic positions at the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide, where he received multiple research and teaching awards in recognition of his scholarly contributions and classroom excellence. He has attracted multiple competitive international and domestic grants to support research on leadership development in Australia.

His research has been published in leading journals in management and organisational studies (FT50/ABDC A*; with 3% - 5% acceptance rate), including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Journal of Vocational Behavior. He serves as an Associate Editor at Human Relations (2022~) and a Guest Editor at the Journal of Management Scientific Reports (2025). Additionally, he is current on the Editoriall Board of Personnel Psychology (2025~) and was on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Organizational Behavior (2018 ~ 2025) and the Journal of Management (2019 ~ 2025), and has received outstanding reviewer awards from the Journal of Organizational Behavior (2023), Journal of Management (2023), and Journal of Management and Organization (2024). He also teaches various courses related to leadership and people management in organisations at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States. His leadership-relevant courses (for undergraduate and MBA students) are among the top-rated courses in various Australian and US universities.

Thomas Maak is Professor of Leadership and the inaugural Professorial Chair in Ethics at the University of Queensland Business School. A business ethicist by training, he previously served as Director Centre for Workplace Leadership and Professor of Leadership at the University of Melbourne. Thomas is global authority in the field of responsible leadership, business ethics, and the micro-foundations of CSR. His research links the individual, group, and organizational levels, combining ethical theory, political philosophy, relational thinking and stakeholder theory. He conducted the first team neurodynamics study with MBA students in 2012. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as the Academy of Managment Learning & Education, Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management, Organizational Research Methods, and the Journal of Business Ethics. He is listed in the Stanford list of the world's most highly cited university professors.

Thomas has extensive experience in leadership development and has worked for several years with PricewaterhouseCoopers on their award-winning senior executive program ‘Ulysses’. He has also worked with other leading companies, including BMW, Volkswagen, Shell, UBS, Dong Energy, and Novo Nordisk. Through his work with leading social entrepreneurs in South Asia and South America, including Gram Vikas, Hagar, and Fundacion Paraguaya, he is also interested in social innovation and the advancement of human dignity in a fractured world. Before coming to Australia, Thomas started his academic career at the University of St. Gallen, home to the world’s best MSc in Management, and is a graduate from the INSEAD International Director’s Program. From 2004-2008 he held an appointment as Senior Research Fellow at INSEAD, France, and co-directed a research stream within the PwC-INSEAD initiative on high-performing organizations, before being appointed Full Professor at ESADE Business School in Barcelona, one of the top-ranked MBA schools in the world, and a leader in corporate executive education. In 2014 he was a visiting professor at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Thomas is the immediate past president of ISBEE, the International Society of Business, Economics, and Ethics and chaired and co-organized the 2022 World Congress in Bilbao, Spain.

Natalie is a self-confessed pracademic. Her entire career has been in the pursuit of helping organisations get value from their technology investments. She started hacking code before it was fashionable, and climbed the slippery pole of technical and project leadership. She is now an Associate Professor of Practice at UQBS, conducting industry research and executive education on all things digital, data and AI governance and serves as a board member of UnitingCare Queensland and Queensland Treasury Corporation. Previously, Natalie was a partner in Deloitte’s Risk Advisory practice, was seconded as Chief Delivery Officer role for eHealth Queensland, and has been an inaugural member of several digital committees, including the National AI Centre Thinktank on Responsible AI.

I am a Research Fellow in the Institute of Social Science Research at The University of Queensland.

My research interests coalesce around issues of social justice within organisations. I am particularly curious about how the way we perceive others informs our treatment of one and other in the workplace. I spend a lot of my time exploring this idea in the context of leadership. For example, collaborators and I have been working with industry professionals in Australia and North America to understand what organisational structures inhibit minority leaders' (e.g., women, racially diverse) progression and retention. We've also been investigating possible disrupters that may serve to improve minority leaders' chances of success in leadership roles.

I also spend a lot of time on applied research problems through partnering with industry to examine the effectiveness of practical initiatives or policy shifts. Recently, we've been working on understanding the supportive mechanisms that enhance boat safety in Northern Australia, while another partnership has focused on understanding how novel bail support programs can be enhanced to support young people to meet their youth justice orders.

I received my BPsycSc and MPsyOrg from UQ Psychology before completing a PhD in Leadership / Organisational Behaviour at UQ Business School. In 2019 I moved to The University of Illinois for a postdoctoral fellowship before joining the Institute of Social Science Research in 2021.

I am also an Organisational Psychologist and consult with industry on people focused challenges. I partner with business leaders and people managers to develop and implement evidence based actions and strategies.

I work with collaborators in Australia and North America, and I have the good fortune of supporting several RHD candidates at present.
