I am a sociologist currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) at the University of Queensland. I hold a PhD in Sociology from the Australian National University (ANU) and a master’s degree in social policy (research) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). With extensive experience spanning over a decade, one of my specialisations is based on designing and executing qualitative and quantitative research projects across public and private sectors. My expertise lies in evaluating the effectiveness of social policies through data analysis and critical assessment, aiming to inform evidence-based recommendations for improving social programs and interventions.
My doctoral thesis used quantitative methods and secondary data to analyse the subjective perceptions of inequality and its effects on today’s society. My research focuses on subjective perceptions of inequality and its societal implications, social classes, social stratification, and social mobility.
Professor Lee is a public health psychologist with research interests in gender and health. She has been a CI on the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health since its initiation in 1995, and has been Project Manager (2000-2003) and National Coordinator (2003-2005).
Professor Lee is a former Head of the School of Psychology (2006-2010) and former Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences (2014-2019). As an Emeritus Professor she is actively involved in research grant application development and support.

A/Prof Janni Leung (PhD) is an NHMRC Development Fellow at National Centre for Youth Substance Use Research (NCYSUR) at The University of Queensland. Their program of research includes investigating the epidemiology of substance use and mental health because they are both major public health issues that commonly occur together. This research program had made paradigm-changing development through 100+ articles, which have recognised impact (15,000+ cites, 30% output in the top 1% citation percentile). Many of their work involves conducting systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and applying statistical models to epidemiological data on addiction and mental health issues to better understand their impacts on populations. Her work is used to inform policies on how to reduce the disease burden caused by addiction and mental health problems in Australia and overseas. Janni is committed to conducting high-quality rigorous research to generate empirical epidemiological evidence to inform decisions to prevent addiction-related harms in the population.
Teaching and supervision: They have qualifications and training in public health, sociology, and psychology. In addition, they have strong research and teaching experience in epidemiology and biostatistics. Janni has worked with a range of students from diverse demographic and cultural backgrounds, including mature-aged students and students with family responsibilities. She currently has a topic available for a self-motivated student interested in addiction research. Janni’s current research focus is on the epidemiology and disease burden associated with mental and substance use disorders across the globe.

Suri Li is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Science Research, University of Queensland and the Centre of Excellence for Children & Families over the Life Course. Her current work centres on gender inequality and family dynamic across life course and explores the interplay of gender relations in the public and private spheres.
Prior to her current position, she holds a BSc and MSc in Finance, as well as an MA in Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh, the UK and a PhD in Sociology at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Her DPhil Thesis focus on the relationship between household resources and child wellbeing in Ireland, Australia and the UK using longitudinal data from birth cohort studies.
Jason Lodge is a lifelong student of learning and a staunch advocate of evidence-informed education. A chef by trade, a psychological scientist by training, and an educator by profession, for over 20 years, Jason has worked to better understand learning to enhance education, particularly via digital technologies.
Jason is Associate Professor of Educational Psychology and Director of the Learning, Instruction, and Technology Lab in the School of Education at The University of Queensland (UQ). With the lab team, Jason explores the cognitive, metacognitive, and emotional aspects of learning, particularly in higher education and with digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI). He and his team have a particular interest in self- and co-regulated learning.
Recently, Jason has been focused on the evolving role of AI in education. He serves as an expert advisor to the OECD and Australian National Task Force on Artificial Intelligence in Education and led the Assessment Experts Forum in partnership with the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). The resulting resource, Assessment Reform for the Age of Artificial Intelligence, is being used across education sectors in Australia and around the world to rethink assessment in light of the emergence of generative AI. His most recent work in partnership with the Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES) has been on developing a national framework for AI in higher education, a translation of the Australian Framework for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Schools.
Jason also serves as Deputy Associate Dean (Academic) in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at UQ. He holds fellowships with the Psychonomic Society (US) and the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). Jason has received numerous teaching awards, including the Australian Psychological Society’s Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Education and was an inaugural winner of the ASCILITE and CAULLT Award for Outstanding Leadership in Digital Learning in Higher Education in 2023. Additionally, Jason is an editor of Student Success and until recently served as the Lead Editor of Australasian Journal of Educational Technology.
Dr Kristiana Ludlow is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Services Research, Faculty of Medicine, the University of Queensland, and an Honorary Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology with first class Honours in 2015, her Master of Research in Medicine and Health Sciences in 2017, and her PhD in in Health Innovation in 2020. Dr Ludlow has expertise in co-design, qualitative research and Q methodology. Her research interests include co-designing interventions and digital health tools with end-users, frailty, education, aged care, person-centred care, the role of family caregivers in care, missed care/unfinished care, and care prioritisation. She is passionate about collaborating with consumers, service users and health professionals to improve the delivery of healthcare and mental health services.

Fiona is a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology with research interests in grief & loss, trauma emtion regulation and anxiety. Her work is mechanism focussed. She applies experimental and longitudinal methods including experience sampling to better understand the pyschological processes that contribute to resilence and development of psychopathology. Her work is also focussed on improving supports for those struggling with grief and trauma.
Fiona completed her Master of Psychology(Clnical) and PhD at UNSW and undertook a postdoctoral fellowship in the Loss, Trauma and Emotion Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University. She also has experience working as a clinician in public health and private practice.
Professor Mallett has enjoyed a distinguished career in elite coaching and academia. Prof. Mallett was an Olympic and World Championship medal-winning coach and won a National university teaching award (2011). In 2017, he was awarded the prestigious August-Wilhelm Scheer Professorial Fellowship at Technische Universität München (TUM) in Germany. He developed a world-renowned online program in sports coaching and consults nationally and internationally to many elite sporting organisations. In 2016, Professor Mallett led and completed an international research project examining what can we learn from some of the world's most successful coaches. Prof. Mallett was Chair and Co-Chair of the Research Committee for the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) from 2010-2019.
Background
Professor Cliff Mallett joined the School of Human Movement Studies in 2000 after a career in physical education and also in elite coaching as a National High Performance Coach in track and field with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS). He teaches undergraduate and graduate students and actively researches in the area of elite sport. Prof. Mallett regularly consults with elite coaches and athletes as well as coach developers in several national sporting organisations and international organisations.
Professor Graham Martin OAM, MD, FRANZCP, DPM works as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with skills in individual and family therapy. His research interests have been in Early Intervention and Promotion of Mental Health with special reference to prevention of suicide in young people and non-suicidal self-injury.
Professor Martin was Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at The University of Queensland, and Clinical Director of RCH Health Service District Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) (2001-2014). He now works part time in private practice, but continues to supervise students and publish regarding his research interests.
From 1986 to 2001 he was Clinical Director of Southern Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Adelaide, and is a clinician, researcher, writer and commentator. Thirty years of clinical immersion in direct clinician work, supervision, systemic practice, and child psychiatry and family therapy teaching, underpins development of preventive programs in mental illness, and programs for promotion of mental health in families, communities, schools, the defence force cadets and other systems.
Graham has been dedicated to suicide prevention since 1987, and is a member of the International Association for Suicide Prevention and the International Association for Suicide Research. He was a member of the Advisory Council Australian National Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy and Evaluation Working Group (1994-99), the writing team for the Australian Suicide Prevention Strategy (2000, 2007), the National Advisory Council for Suicide Prevention (2003-8), and was a National Advisor on Suicide Prevention to the Australian Government (2009-2012). Graham is Director of the Centre for Suicide Prevention Studies in Young People at UQ (http://www.suicidepreventionstudies.org/index.html).
Graham was Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) chairman (1995-2001), convening 6 national suicide prevention conferences, led the team developing the first Media and Suicide Resource Kit (‘Achieving the Balance’, 1998), became a Life Member of SPA (2004), was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (2006), a ‘Jackstar’ award for 10 years contribution to Inspire Foundation’s ‘ReachOut’ program (2007), the 2008 SPA ‘Lifetime Contribution to Suicide Prevention Research’ award, and the Rowe-Zonta International Prize 2010. Graham was Catholic Education Queensland Travelling Scholar (2008-9). In 2014, Professor Martin was awarded the SPA ‘Lifetime Contribution to Suicide Prevention’ award, and in 2015 was awarded a Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Citation for his contributions to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Graham was an originator of the Australian Network for Promotion, Prevention and Early Intervention program (Auseinet, 1997-2009), and Director until 2001. He is Editor in Chief for the online journal AMH (Advances in Mental Health, 2009 to date), formerly the Australian eJournal for the Advancement of Mental Health (1999-2009). Graham chaired the Queensland Mental Health Promotion, Prevention and Early Intervention committee, and was a board member for Mates in Construction, an industry leader in suicide prevention for the construction industry.
Graham is one of the editors of “Mental Health Promotion and Young People: Concepts and Challenges” (2001, McGraw Hill, Sydney), published in English, Italian and Korean. He is the author of "Taking Charge: A journey of recovery" (2013); "Sensual Haiku" a book of poetry for lovers (2013), and "Essays on Prevention in Mental Health" (2014), and is currently writing a biopic: "The Making of a Child Psychiatrist" (in draft, 2015).
The main focus of Graham’s work is the area of self-injury in young people, with clinical, community, therapy and research programs. His team has recently completed the largest ever, national survey of self-injury for the Department of Health and Ageing (The Australian National Epidemiological Survey of Self-Injury).
In his spare time he trained for 20 years in Karate, and was a Nidan black belt, and Sensei, with Hoshindo Karate International (from 2003-2009).

Barbara’s research uses social psychological theory to solve real social problems. Over 19 years she has collaborated with a range of industry partners (e.g., Australian Red Cross Lifeblood; state police agencies) to design and evaluate theory-based solutions to problems as diverse as how to minimise bias in investigating allegations of sexual assault to how to maximise blood donor appointment attendance. She has over 100 peer reviewed publications including many focused on gender, prejudice, discrimination, and SoHO donor recruitment and retention that have been published in Annals of Behavioral Medicine, Psychology of Women Quarterly, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Law & Human Behavior, Transfusion, Transfusion Medicine Reviews and and other journals.

Professor Jason Mattingley was appointed as Foundation Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Queensland in January 2007, a joint appointment between the Queensland Brain Institute and the School of Psychology.
He completed a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours at Monash University (1988), a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Melbourne (1990), and a PhD in Psychology at Monash University (1995). In 1994 he was awarded an NHMRC Neil Hamilton Fairley Post-Doctoral Fellowship, which he took to the University of Cambridge. Here he worked jointly with Professor Jon Driver in the Department of Experimental Psychology and Professor Ian Robertson at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit. While in Cambridge he was elected a Fellow of King’s College.
Upon returning to Australia Professor Mattingley was appointed as Senior Research Fellow (later Principal Research Fellow) at the University of Melbourne, where he was Director of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory within the School of Behavioural Science (2000 – 2006).
Professor Mattingley has won numerous accolades for his research, including an Australian Laureate Fellowship from the Australian Research Council (2012), the Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Science Award from the Australian Psychological Society (2012), and the Monash University Distinguished Alumni Award (Faculty of Biomedical and Psychological Sciences, 2016).
He was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia in 2007, and a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science in 2016.
Dr. Emily McCann is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Dementia & Neuro Mental Health Research Unit at the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research. She is currently working on the development of a Parkinson's Disease specific cognitive toolkit to harmonise cognitive assessment and understand the development of dementia.
She completed her PhD in 2024 at the Cognitive Neurology (Nestor) lab at the Queensland Brain Institute. During her PhD, she investigated the nature and timing of visuoperceptual impairments across a range of neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr Suzanne McDonald is a clinical researcher and chartered psychologist. Suzanne is a Research Fellow in the General Practice Clinical Unit and a Sessional Academic in the School of Psychology. Suzanne's research interests focus on (1) the development and application of N-of-1 trials and single-case designs in areas within medicine, psychology and digital health (2) understanding and changing health-related behaviours in patients and health professionals (3) using implementation science theories and frameworks (e.g. Theoretical Domain Framework) to explore barriers and facilitators to implementing interventions and innovations in clinical practice (4) designing and evaluating complex interventions.
Suzanne is the co-chair of the International Collaborative Network for N-of-1 Trials and Single-Case Designs (www.nof1sced.org), a global network of over 650 academics, researchers and clinicians interested in these methods in more than 40 countries.

Blake joined the School of Psychology at UQ in 2007 having previously been a lecturer at Queensland University of Technology. Blake won a Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2010 and a University of Queensland Teaching Excellence Award in 2016. He led a team that won the AAUT Higher Education Teacher of the Year award in 2019, and received the edX Prize in 2018. He currently teaches a second year elective about psychology and law. His research focuses on jury decision-making including the influence of gender-based stereotypes and the influence of different modes of evidence presentation. He is also interested in group membership and attitude-behaviour relations and how group membership influences thinking about the self. He is a leading instructor of the award-winning course: CRIME101x and the PSYC1030x Introduction to Developmental, Social & Clinical Psychology XSeries Program of four courses on edX.org.
