An integrated high-performance computational platform powering systems biology investigation (2009-2010)

Abstract

Analysing the complex molecular networks that control whole biological processes requires an integrated, highly capable bioinformatics platform. We propose to implement a state-of-the-art, scaleable computational environment to analyse, model and infer biomolecular networks. This platform, unique in Australia, will consist of high-performance hardware and an integrated suite of commercial software linked to curated datasets. The platform will enable systematic analysis of data from high-throughput biomolecular platforms, in silico exploration of network models, and experimental validation. This will lead to a deeper understanding of the biological mechanisms in health, biotechnology and environmental processes.
