Overview

Background

Carlos joined UQ after a 2-year period as a Senior Teaching Fellow in water resources management at University College London Australia. Carlos completed a PhD in Hydrogeology in 2014 at Flinders University, as part of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training (NCGRT). Following that, Carlos completed a Graduate Certificate in Project Management at the Queensland University of Technology. Prior to that, Carlos obtained a BSc in Geology (2003) and a MSc in Environmental Geology (2008) from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). Carlos worked as a research assistant in hydrogeology for the University of Aveiro (Portugal) and the Portuguese Geological Survey in his early career.

Carlos and colleagues were awarded with the “Orlando Leitao” Prize for the best work presented to the Portuguese Society of Neurology in 2017, which was on interdisciplinary research on impacts of groundwater contamination in human health.

Carlos is a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists.
