An integrated kinetic measurement system enabling efficient solar energy conversion (2011-2012)

Abstract

This proposal seeks to establish an integrated measuring system to fundamentally understand the reaction kinetics of semiconductor materials in renewable energy conversion devices. The system combines a range of integrated lasers and spectrometers to form a unique testing platform, which enables the measurement of light induced transient absorption and emission decay kinetics, thus offering in-depth understanding and guidelines for new high efficiency solar energy conversion devices. The expected outcomes will lead to groundbreaking research in a variety of research fields, including low-cost solar cells, optoelectronics, and semiconducting photocatalysis for efficient hydrogen production and water/air purification.
