Diversity and inclusion

We aim to lead in inclusion as we do in education and research.

The University of Queensland (UQ) is committed to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion as foundations of academic excellence and social impact.

We recognise that a vibrant, inclusive community enables innovation, empowers individuals, and strengthens our capacity to lead.

Indigenous engagement

We're committed to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff and communities across our teaching, research and learning. We’re focused on enabling Indigenous excellence through meaningful strategies in employment, research, procurement, cultural education, curriculum, and reconciliation.

Widening participation

We believe education and opportunity must be available for all. The Queensland Commitment is our pledge to break down barriers through strategies to build aspirations, grow pathways and support student success.

Age-friendly university

We're creating a vibrant and inclusive environment where ideas flourish and people, regardless of background or age, are supported to succeed. We're the first university in the Southern Hemisphere to join the Age-Friendly University Global Network. We’re also the first university to be formally recognised by Dementia Australia as a Dementia-Friendly Organisation.
