LGBTQIA+ inclusion

The University of Queensland (UQ) is committed to the inclusion, support and advancement of LGBTQIA+ staff, students and community members.

UQ is a safe place for everyone – whether you're studying, working, engaging in research or visiting.

Our commitment to a culture of diversity, inclusion, respect and belonging has been recognised with a Gold Employer ranking in the 2025 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI). We were the winner of the 2024 Trans & Gender Diverse Inclusion Award and a finalist in 2025.

LGBTQIA+ Action Plan

Our vision is for UQ to be an international leader for the inclusion, respect, support and celebration of the diversity of gender, sex characteristics and sexuality in education and employment.
