National Student Safety Survey 2026

The 2026 National Student Safety Survey is being conducted across Australian universities on behalf of Universities Australia.

Everyone at UQ deserves to feel safe, respected and supported. UQ is committed to ensuring our campuses are safe and respectful environments for all members of the community and is actively supporting the roll-out of this survey across our campuses.

The survey captures students’ perceptions and experiences of sexual violence and harm, and provides updated data to help inform prevention efforts, strengthen support services and drive continued action across the sector.

Every opinion is unique. Participation is voluntary and confidential. Individual survey responses will not be shared with the University. Students can stop the survey at any time.

Who can complete the survey

The National Student Safety Survey is for all students, and every student’s perspective matters.

The survey gives students an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives. You don't need to have experienced sexual violence or harm to take part.

On behalf of Universities Australia, independent research organisation Roy Morgan will send a survey invitation to eligible UQ students.

Eligible UQ students

To be eligible to complete the survey, you must be:

  • a domestic or international UQ student aged 16 years or older
  • enrolled in a coursework or higher degree by research program between 1 January 2026 and 30 June 2026. Your enrolment was not discontinued or completed by 30 June 2026
  • a UQ College student undertaking the Tertiary Preparation Program.

Survey dates

The survey will be available for eligible UQ students to complete from 2 to 30 September 2026.

Support

Some topics covered in the survey may be sensitive or distressing. Students are encouraged to prioritise their wellbeing and access support if they need it.

Support is available before, during and after participation.

UQ Safer Communities can support you if you experience, witness, or are concerned about unsafe or inappropriate behaviour. You can access help for sexual assault, harassment, bullying, discrimination, domestic violence, racism, or any other behaviour that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
