SafeZone app

UQ SafeZone is a free smartphone app that connects staff and students with Security and emergency services during first-aid or emergency situations on UQ campuses and sites.

The support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To use UQ SafeZone, you’ll need internet access on your mobile device.

How SafeZone works

UQ SafeZone lets you quickly contact Security and share your location in an emergency. You can:

  • make emergency calls
  • request first-aid assistance
  • ask for general help if you’re lost or locked out of a room
  • report suspicious or dangerous activities.

The app sends your location to Security so they can respond immediately.

You can also use SafeZone to:

  • track the safety bus, Long Pocket shuttle or intercampus bus in real time
  • receive campus notifications
  • use the ‘working alone’ safety feature
  • access wellbeing support, including services like Lifeline
  • report sexual misconduct.

The app works even when you're off campus, with the call directed to 000 (emergency services).
