Econometric Estimation and Analysis of Global Distribution of Income (2004)
Abstract
In an increasingly globalised world there is considerable interest in obtaining tangible evidence of the benefits emanating from globalisation. Are these benefits flowing on to individuals and households especially persons in the lower income groups? Answers to such questions depend upon the effect of globalisation on inequality in the income distribution and on poverty within countries within regions and in the world as a whole. The project proposes a rigorous study of global inequality using advanced econometric techniques and the latest data available from national and international sources. Decomposition analysis of global and regional inequality is also planned.
