Background

Dr Mansoureh Nickbakht is a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland Centre for Hearing Research (CHEAR). She is a qualitative researcher and her research mainly focuses on improving hearing services. Currently, she is working on a NHMRC-funded project to improve access to the hearing services program for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Australia.

Research impacts

Dr Mansoureh Nickbakht has received funding from charity organisations to address social isolation in adolescents. She has also been an investigator on national projects about the stigma of hearing loss, and on a contract research project from the Department of Health and Social Care to develop informational resources and decision-aid tools for people with hearing loss, now implemented on the national DOH website (https://www.health.gov.au/our-work/hearing-services-program). Dr Nickbakht developed a Minimum Data Set to be used in a needs assessment tool to promote family-centred intervention.
