NHMRC: R Douglas Wright Biomedical Career Development Award (2006-2011)

Abstract

Five year aims - To establish a productive research group building on my expertise in structural and molecular cell biology to understand the mechanisms controlling membrane trafficking. - To continue international collaborations, and extend these to local and national groups to maintain a competitive research edge. - To obtain competitive external research funding from national and international funding agencies beyond the new investigator start up funding provided by the IMB. - To expand my international and national profile through high quality research publications and presenting data at scientific conferences, and to become more involved in the process of peer review through refereeing of grant proposals and journal articles. - To attract postgraduate students to my research group and to train them in the methods of structural biology, and to foster in undergraduate students an interest in understanding cellular processes at the molecular level.
