Parental Marital Conflict And Marital Change: Effects On Child, Adolescent And Young Adult Developmental Outcomes (2006-2007)

Abstract

There is an extensive literature, which suggests that children and young adults in families with marital problems, that is in single parent families, stepparent families, families where there is conflict and/or violence have behavioural, cognitive, educational and future employment prospects, which are adversely affected. Using data collected over a 21-year period, this project seeks funding to consolidate the existing data and examine patterns of change in marital form and marital quality as these impact on the developmental outcomes of children and young adults.
