ARC Research Hub to Transform Future Tall Timber Buildings (2016-2022)

Abstract

The aim of the Hub is to develop skills, knowledge and resources for novel designs of tall timber buildings that incorporates architectural, engineering and sustainability drivers while meeting the intent of regulatory constraints. Innovative engineering solutions will be developed to address crucial barriers that currently hinder the use of structural timber in the fast growing and already extensive market of the medium-rise tall buildings where timber is, on many counts, the ideal construction material. By eliminating the barriers, this project will open a massive new market for novel technologies and methods generated through this work.
