Lattice light sheet microscopy for imaging biology in real space and time (2017)
Abstract
Lattice light sheet microscopy is a new modality for 4D imaging of live biological specimens ranging from individual molecules to small organisms. The microscope enables unprecedented imaging of live specimens without phototoxicity or photobleaching, enabling prolonged imaging of significant physiological or biophysical events. The terabyte-scale image acquisition and handling requires dedicated computing infrastructure. This proposal will establish a Lattice Light-Sheet Microscope (LLSM) Facility, based at The University of Queensland and supported by researchers from UQ and four partnering institutions, to deliver state-of-the-art technology and innovative imaging capabilities to Queensland, including regional and interstate universities.
