ARC Training Centre in Alloy Innovation for Mining Efficiency (AIME) (ARC Training Centre administered by Deakin University) (2017-2022)

Abstract

The Centre will transfrom materials innovation in the mining equipment sector and graduate innovators ready to take Australian manufacturers into dominance in this multi-billion dollar market. The goal is to create world¿s best performance in highly customized long-life, wear resistant components. These innovations will enable much needed efficiencies following the end of the mining super-cycle. The Centre will pioneer a new paradigm for rapid development of customized alloys that excel in severe mining conditions using 3D printing, novel characterization and a unique training environment networked into manufacturers, systems suppliers, miners, consultancies, industry bodies, state government and the METS Ignited Growth Centre.
