Overview

Background

Dr Mohammad Reza Baneshi is a biostatistician with significant training, work, and research experience in multiple facets of biostatistics and epidemiology. His background includes advanced research on applying statistical procedures to cancer and HIV/AIDS research. Specifically, his main research interests include analysis of time-to-event data, analysis of longitudinal data, and size estimation of stigmatized groups most at risk of HIV/AIDS. He joined the UQ in 2020 and currently works as a biostatistician at the Australian Women and Girls’ Health Research (AWaGHR) Centre, School of Public Health.

Dr Mohammad Reza Baneshi also has an adjunct position as a Professor of Biostatistics at the Kerman University of Medical Sciences, IRAN.

Before joining the UQ, he conducted several national studies in Iran to provide the most updates estimates of the marginalised populations who are at high risk of HIV. He has made substantial contributions in applying size-estimation methods to stigmatized populations such as people with HIV/AIDS, sex workers, man who have had sex with man, and injection drug users. In 2022, he published the reference book of size estimation methods.
