An integrated system for measuring thermoelectric properties of advanced materials (2011-2012)

Abstract

This proposal seeks to establish a unique, integrated measuring system for bulk and nanostructured thermoelectric materials used for energy conversion and generation from waste heat. The system will precisely measure a range of physical and thermal parameters of thermoelectric effect of a wide range of semiconductor materials, enabling the development of highly efficient thermoelectric materials (such as nanowires and nanotubes). The equipment together will form a comprehensive characterisation tool underpinning the work of excellent researchers in advanced thermoelectrics bulk/nano-materials, optoelectronics, and semiconductor systems and facilitating strategic collaborations in these disciplines.
