Overview

Background

Paul Treschman is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences (HMNS). He is currently undertaking his PhD at the University of Queensland (UQ).

His research interests are in formative assessment and feedback in the Physical Education setting. This includes investigating the influence of teachers’ behavaiours on students' motivation, learning and performance.

    Creating supportive and individually challenging learning environments. How task design, teaching styles and evaluation processes influence students’ motivation, learning, and behaviour? Self-Determination Theory and Achievement Goal Theory in the Physical Education setting

  • Health and Physical Education

    How teacher behaviours can influence students’ motivation and performances in Physical Education? The influence of task design, group decisions, and differentiated learning opportunities on students’ motivation, learning and performances in Physical Education

  • Feedback

    The quantity and type of feedback provided to students in Physical Education lessons How feedback is received, interpreted and enacted by students? How does feedback provided by the teacher influence the level of challenge and risk students will take with regard to learning-related decisions?

  • Caring

    Care, relatedness and connection and the influence of inter-personal skills on students’ motivation, learning and behaviour.
