Overview

Background

I am a cosmologist, which means that I work in one of the most exciting branches of physics where groundbreaking data continue to reshape our understanding of the Universe at a remarkable pace. My current research focuses on large-scale structure cosmology and how it can help address the challenges of the standard model:

-How did the Universe begin?

-How fast –and why– is it expanding?

-What are Dark Energy and Dark Matter?

To address these questions, I am studying the distributions of galaxies and their velocity in the nearby Universe, and trying to model how the complex network of structures generated by gravity affects our observations and measurements

Research impacts

My research addresses fundamental questions about the Universe and the laws of physics by investigating the nature of gravity and dark energy using innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to gravitational research. It has often gathered the public's attention and has been mentioned several times in national and international news outlets. My paper “An effective description of Laniakea: impact on Cosmology and the local determination of the Hubble constant” sits in the top 5% of all research outputs scored by Altmetric and received coverage in English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and Italian news outlets. It has also been featured on YouTube science dissemination channels Dr. Becky, PBS Spacetime and What da Math, collectively accruing over one million views. I actively engage in outreach activities, spanning interactions with high-school students through research projects, astronomy work-experience placements, and delivering public talks, interviews and podcasts.
