Dr Wedisinghe is the Speciality Supervisor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the UQ Campus in Ipswich. He is a Senior Staff Specialist in West Morton Health.
He graduated from the University of Colombo in 2003. His entire postgraduate training was based in the United Kingdom. He has a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of London and Master of Medical Education from the University of Dundee. Upon completion of his specialist training in Glasgow, he was appointed as a Consultant and Honorary Associate Professor at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire in 2015. He is a fellow and examiner of the RCOG and RANZCOG, and member of RCPI.
Dr Wedisinghe’s research interests are in cervical screening, colposcopy and simulation training. He received the prestigious Edgar Gentilli Prize (RCOG awarded for the best gynaecological cancer research), NHS Excellence Award, BSCCP Travel Bursary and GOGS Gold Medal for his research in cervical screening and colposcopy in 2012-15.
