Overview
Background
Leo is a Lecturer in Finance in the UQ Business School. His research area is empirical corporate finance with a focus on corporate governance, innovation, and sustainable finance. His work has been published in internationally recognised finance journals such as Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (FT50) and Journal of Corporate Finance, among others.
Leo has been successful in both internal and external grant applications.
At the UQ Business School, Leo has been an active member of the Faculty of Business, Law, and Economics (BEL) Low and Negligible Risk (LNR) Ethics Review Panel since 2021. He was the UQ Business School Academic Staff Representative on the Health, Safety, and Wellness Committee from 2021 to 2024. Leo is currently the Finance Brownbag Seminar Coordinator.
Since joining UQ Business School in 2019, Leo has taught big courses in finance in the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Management, Master of Commerce, and Master of Business programs. He has supervised or co-supervised many honors students to successful completion, all of whom achieved first-class honours and several were awarded University Medals. His students have received full scholarships for PhD in Finance at Australia's leading business schools (e.g., USyd, UQ, Adelaide, Monash, etc.). Leo is currently active in PhD supervision.
Leo started his academic career in 2018 as a Lecturer in Finance in a full-time, continuing teaching- & research-focused role at RMIT University in Melbourne. He holds a PhD in Finance from UNSW Business School. Outside work, Leo is a marathoner.
