Permit parking
2026 parking permits
All permits used in 2025 are no longer valid.
Permit applications for 2026 are now open. See instructions below.
From 9 February, a 2026 permit is required to park in staff permit areas.
Herston permits
Due to limited availability, priority for 2026 fixed permits at the Herston campus will be given to full-time 2025 permit holders.
Parking permits are available for:
- staff (continuing, fixed-term and casual)
- staff of UQ Union and UQ-controlled entities (UQ Sport, JKTech, UniQuest, UQ College, UQ Health Care, UQ Residence)
- corporate partners
- students, staff and visitors with disability or special needs.
Permit holders can park in designated areas at UQ campuses and sites. We use license plate recognition technology to provide entry to authorised vehicles, so you don't need to display a permit on your vehicle.
Permits are subject to availability.
Staff permit types
Fixed permits
- Full-time (5 days per week)
- Pre-pay for 12 months or 6 months, or
- Salary package and pay fortnightly (continuing and fixed-term UQ staff only)
Fixed 4-day permits are expected to be available in the second half of 2026. For permit parking for 4 days per week, select the flexible permit option.
Flexible permits
- Book parking as you need, between 1 and 5 days per week. Staff who park at multiple UQ locations must either have a flexible permit, or park casually.
- Pre-pay for 12 months or 6 months, or
- Salary package and pay fortnightly (continuing and fixed-term UQ staff only)
Flexible permit holders will need to book the days they are parking in advance.
Controlled entity and affiliate staff
As a staff member of UQ Union or UQ-controlled entities, you’ll be able to apply for a flexible permit to book and pay for parking for 1-5 days a week.
From 2 February, email PF Assist pfassist@pf.uq.edu.au with your name, organisation and work email address to be sent instructions on securing your permit.

How to apply for a permit
UQ staff apply for permits through the ePermit website.
All 12-month permits end on 31 December, with payment pro-rated. Permit holders will be prompted to renew at the end of each year. Read the ePermit terms and conditions
Set up your account
- Go to the ePermit website.
- Sign up for a PayStay account with your UQ email address.
- Add your credit card details if you plan to pre-pay for your permit.
- Follow the prompts to link your PayStay account to ePermit.
- Log in to ePermit and finish creating your User Profile (including mobile phone number).
Choose your permit
- Click 'Apply for a permit'.
- Select the relevant permit group (pre-paid, salary package or complimentary), then choose the permit type from the dropdown list.
- Check the User Details are correct.
Finalise your permit
Then, follow the steps for your chosen permit:
For a fixed permit
- Add the vehicle registration.
- Accept the terms and conditions, then submit.
You'll receive an email once your fixed permit application has been approved.
You can have one vehicle on your permit at a time. Add and delete vehicles as needed by selecting 'Update vehicle' on the relevant permit in 'My current permits'.
For a flexible permit
- You won't be able to add the vehicle registration yet—this field is inactive. We'll ask for this information later on.
- Accept the terms and conditions, then submit. You'll receive an email once your application has been approved.
- After your permit is approved, return to 'Apply for a permit'.
- Click the card for the flexible permit you've been approved for (prepaid or salary package). The Permit type drop-down list will now include an option to 'Select days'. (For prepaid it will be at the bottom of the list; for salary package it's in the middle of the list.) Click 'Select days'.
- If you have flexi permits for multiple UQ campuses, ensure you have selected the relevant campus in the 'coupon book' field.
- Add the vehicle registration, then select your preferred parking days in the calendar and submit. You can book up to 3 months in advance. Confirm the details and click 'OK'.
- Whenever you need to book more dates, log back into ePermit and repeat from step 11.
Bookings are confirmed automatically (you won't receive an email). Each day you have booked will appear as a separate permit under 'My current permits'.
To cancel a booking, open the permit for that date and select 'Withdraw'.
Manage your permit
Visit the ePermit website if you need to:
- renew or cancel your permit
- add, update or delete vehicle registration details.
