Understanding changes in chemical exposure through integrative sampling and systematic archiving (2012-2016)

Abstract

Exposure to chemical pollutants affects human and environmental health. However approaches for measuring population exposure and changes in exposure remains expensive and outcomes are often unsatisfactory. The aim of this project is to develop, interpret and apply new approaches for integrated sampling strategies covering ambient/environmental and internal exposure. The proposed strategy also will provide sufficient sample material to allow archiving of sample aliquots to implement retrospective studies on emerging pollutants of concern. Among numerous benefits the project will facilitate novel programs to enable examination of the links between exposure, epigenetics and burden of disease, as critical components of population health.
