Super-Organocatalysts for Cascade Reactions in Water
Abstract
Inspired by Nature's design, the project aims to mimic the cytoskeleton of a living cell by engineered a purpose-designed multi-compartmentalised nanoscale vesicle for cascade chemical transformations. This new process is a potential game changer for carrying out organic reactions directly in water and mimicking the way chemical transformations occur within the cell. The project expects to generate new knowledge on the dynamic interplay between compartmentalisation and directed control over multistep cascade reactions in one-pot. Expected outcomes of this project include new synthetic polymer techniques to create on-demand activation of catalysts, allowing the rapid production of chemical compounds with unprecedented chemical selectivity.
