4D Printing of Magnetic Nanoparticle/Polymer Composites as Soft Robots
Abstract
Designing robots to mimic complex motions observed in nature is challenging due to the limitations of rigid materials and the complexity of fabrication techniques. This project aims to develop highly controllable and reconfigurable 4D printing soft robots capable of intricate movements for sophisticated tasks. This will be achieved through advancements in novel soft materials based on crosslinked nanoparticle/shape memory polymer composites, combined with improvements in structural and engineering design through 3D printing. The expected outcomes will enable future soft robots with multimodal motions that can adapt to complex environments for various applications, providing benefits to advanced manufacturing to addressing social needs.
