Portable Multi-Mode Antenna Systems for Compact Sensing and Communications
Abstract
This project aims to address the challenge of developing a compact and portable radar system by utilising multi-mode antennas with shared apertures and innovative algorithms to monitor surveillance areas. This project expects to generate new knowledge in how to effectively design and use the multiple irregular modes of these antennas to perform localisation using an inter-disciplinary approach. The expected outcomes of this project include more accurate target localisation, extended range, and superior detection capabilities in smaller and portable systems. This should provide significant benefits in portable, stand-alone radar systems for intelligent transportation, air traffic control, and defence.
