Codon modifications redirect expression of HPV16 E7 oncogene and human oncosuppressor genes (p53 & Rb) in keratinocytes (2008-2009)

Abstract

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection causes formation of different epithelial cancers including cervical cancer, which is a major cause of cancer death in women worldwide. The cancers are due to the interaction of the viral oncogene with oncosuppressor genes in HPV-infected cells. Here, we will study a novel mechanism that regulates expression of viral oncogene and oncosuppressor genes in host cells to develope an effective gene therapy for HPV-induced cancers.
