Overview

Background

Reihaneh is a Lecturer in Business Information Systems at the UQ Business School, The University of Queensland. She earned her PhD from the Queensland University of Technology, School of Information Systems. Her research centres on how organisations manage the complexities of AI, automation, and digital integration, particularly focusing on the role of human-AI hybrids. Reihaneh’s work delves into the impact of emerging technologies like AI on the redesign and organisation of work, while also addressing the challenges of managing their potential negative consequences.

Reihaneh teaches managing business data and information retrieval to undergraduate and postgraduate Information Systems program. She has previously developed, coordinated, and taught courses in Business Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, Design of Enterprise IoT Systems, Mobile and Pervasive Systems, and Mobile App Development for both undergraduate and master’s students.

Research interests

  • Work redesign with AI

The goal of this research is to help organisations create value from effective AI implementation. This research explores the social-technical changes and work redesign associated with AI and how we configure AI with work.

  • IS collaboration

This research focuses on value co-creation and digital collaboration in the configuration of digital work.

Research impacts

Reihaneh's research provides actionable insights for public and private organisations, helping them to deliver value through the effective implementation of human-AI hybrid systems. For instance, her collaboration with the SAP Institute for Digital Government has resulted in a thought-leadership report. This report takes a risk perspective to classify tasks and proposes four work redesign approaches based on risk levels and specialisation required. Further, NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure adopted the proposed work redesign approaches for their Invoice Processing. Reihaneh is dedicated to enhancing organisational readiness for the adoption of AI technologies and promoting inclusive AI.
