Overview
Background
Dr Josephine (Josie) Lovegrove is Registered Nurse and Early Career Researcher with a background in aged care and acute (surgical) nursing, who moved into nursing research with an interest in health care quality and patient safety. She is passionate about improving care and translating evidence into practice for better patient outcomes following her own practice experiences with facility-acquired complications.
Josie is currently appointed as Senior Research Fellow, NHMRC CRE in Wiser Wound Care, Griffith University and Herston Infectious Diseases Institute, Metro North Health; and Adjunct Senior Fellow, The University of Queensland. In these roles, Josie leads patient safety research, with a primary focus on preventing hospital-acquired infection via vascular access devices and surgical wounds. Josie also has a track record in pressure injury prevention.
Overall, Josie has disseminated her work internationally with >30 peer-reviewed publications and >25 invited and free paper conference presentations, and has contributed to the supervision of Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) and Doctor of Philosophy students. She has been received >$1.63 million in funds as a Chief Investigator, >$7.63 million as an Associate Investigator, and >$100k in scholarships and bursaries. She is an appointed member of the Wounds Australia Research Committee, Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Tissue Viability, and a 2024 Deeble Institute Scholar. She has methodological experience in systematic reviews, quantitative research and knowledge translation.
