Yoon Kwon Choi

Dr Yoon Kwon Choi is a final stage psychiatry registrar in Brisbane and an associate lecturer at The University of Queensland. Dr Choi has worked in various health services including Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Children's Health Queensland, Mater Hospital, and Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH). He is dual advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, and passionate in advocating for our neurodiverse population as well as culturally and linguistically diverse people. He was awarded the Beverely Raphael New Investigator Research Grant in 2024 by The Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

Outside of clinical work and academia, he sits on multiple leadership and advocacy roles including President of Queensland Psychiatry Trainee Association (QPTA), Queensland's jurisdictional representative for RANZCP Bi-National Committee for Trainees (BCT), student course representative at University of Leeds, bi-national trainee representative of RANZCP Emergency Department Steering Group (EDSG) and RANZCP Section of Psychiatry of Intellectual and Developmental Disability (SPIDD).

He is also undertaking further training with The Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) to pursue associate fellowship, whilst completing his Masters in Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics at University of Leeds with part scholarship awarded by IDEA: The Ethics Centre.
