Overview
Background
Dr Ali RAD YOUSEFNIA is an academic, educator and researcher with extensive experience in design studios, curriculum renewal and large-course coordination. Ali currently teaches and coordinates courses at The University of Queensland’s School of Architecture, Design and Planning, where he has held roles in curriculum and assessment redesign, managed diverse teaching teams, and developed inclusive, digitally supported learning experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students. His teaching connects design, technology, sustainability and contemporary professional challenges, with particular attention to global perspectives, climate-responsive practice, social equity and culturally responsible education.
Ali's research operates at the intersection of the built environment, climate resilience and socio-spatial justice. It includes work on climate-responsive design, environmental inequality, housing and digital cultures, supported by interdisciplinary grants, publications, exhibitions and public engagement. He brings strong capabilities in architectural research, visual communication, spatial analysis, digital technologies and emerging applications of AI in architectural education. Ali is committed to contributing to professionally relevant teaching, collaborative research, industry and community engagement, and the development of graduates equipped to respond thoughtfully to the environmental, technological and social challenges shaping an inclusive and resilient society.
