Overview

Background

Dr Miaomiao Wu is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in Dr Run Zhang’s group in the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), The University of Queensland (UQ).

Dr Wu obtained her PhD degree under the supervision of Dr Run Zhang and Professor Zhiping Xu in AIBN, UQ in 2025. Her doctoral research focused on developing ultrasound-based cancer therapies to suppress tumour growth and metastasis. After that she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in Dr Changkui Fu and Professor Andrew Whittaker's group on mRNA delivery with designed lipid nanoparticles to overcome PEG immunogenicity.

Dr Wu’s research focuses on developing non-invasive ultrasound-based strategies for tumour diagnostics and precision immunotherapy, integrating cancer imaging, in-situ ROS monitoring and regulation, immune response regulation and targeted cancer treatment. She has published a number of articles in leading scientific journals including Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Healthcare Materials, Nature Plants, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Advanced Functional Materials, Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), Chemical Society Reviews, and others. To date, these publications have received more than 1300 citations with an h-index of 20. She has two highly cited papers, two hot papers and two papers featured as journal cover (Angewandte Chemie and Advanced Healthcare Materials).
