A randomised controlled trial of exit site application of Medihoney(TM) for the prevention of catheter associated infections in peritoneal dialysis patients (2008-2013)
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine whether application of antibacterial honey, effectively prevents infections in peritonela dialysis patients compared with standard treatment. 370 subjects will be randomised to receive either daily, exit site application of Medihoney or nasal application of mupirocin (nasal carriers only). The primary outcome measure will be time to first episode of exit site infection, tunnel infection or peritonitis.
