Optimum design of hydraulic structures in rural and urban Australia: dealing with floods and droughts (2012-2016)

Abstract

The optimum design of hydraulic structures can provide an economical and environmental solution for additional water resources, more efficient water distribution systems and better flood mitigation. Economical expansions of our water infrastructure can be achieved with the enhancement of many water storage and conveyance structures. Applications range from rural to large water systems including urban drainage networks. Their optimum design and performances during droughts and floods are critical issues not well understood. The project aims to gain new expert knowledge and to develop highly novel design guidelines for hydraulic structures used in urban and rural water supply.
