Fundamental Processes in Organic Photodetectors - Towards Next Generation Imaging and Sensing Systems (2012-2016)

Abstract

Photodetectors are essential components in modern high technology displays, imaging and sensing devices. Future applications will be even more demanding, with critical requirements such as low cost, flexibility, ability to be re-cycled and even bio-compatibility. Organic Photodetectors (OPDs) have the potential to deliver these future requirements but the technology is currently in its infancy. Our project aims to answer key questions about the basic processes in OPDs and using this information to develop improved materials and device architectures. Important outcomes will include OPDs with viable performance for future devices and progress towards the ultimate goal of integrated organic optoelectronics.
