Advanced driving simulator for injury prevention research (ARC LIEF Administered by Queensland University of Technology) (2008)

Abstract

Prohibitive costs and safety restrictions associated with on-road studies limit the scope of driver behaviour research. Provision of a state-of-the-art driving simulator for this experienced multidisciplinary team will enable the extension and growth of a world-leading road safety research program that will ultimately reduce the high death toll on Australian roads. This simulator offers the capability to study drivers in safety critical situations with a high degree of realism. It will assist government and university specialists in high quality human factors and road safety research focusing on driver-vehicle-road interactions including driver impairment, driver workload, and adaptation to emerging Intelligent Transportation Systems.
