Abstract

Aim 1: To investigate the effect of co-morbid NAFLD on the development, severity and progression of IR and T2DM Specific goals are to:· Validate the use of non-invasive ultrasound imaging combined with biochemical , metabolic and clinical risk factors for the identification of hepatic fat infiltration in patients with T2DM· Estimate the prevalence of NAFLD in patients with T2DM attending a tertiary hospital for medical management· Study the effect of co-morbid NAFLD on the severity and progression of IR and T2DM
