Mechanistic Studies on Biologically Active Iron Chelators (2007-2008)

Abstract

A new series of hydrazone Fe chelators show great promise as an orally active alternative to the current drug DFO which is administered via an invasive subcutaneous infusion regimen. The purpose of this study is to elucidate the mechanism of this extraordinary reaction and to determine whether such a transformation is likely at physiological pH and termperature.
