High performance electrode materials for Reversible Solid Oxide Cells (2016-2021)

Abstract

This project aims to develop high performance electrode materials for reversible solid oxide cells (RSOC). RSOC can work as solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) for fuel production from electricity and reversely as solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) for electricity generation from fuel. The RSOC technology has big potential to provide a large scale electrical energy storage solution for the widespread penetration of intermittent renewable energy resources into electrical grid. This project will address an important issue for the full commercialization of this promising electrical energy storage technology.
