Sensor calibration facility for spectral and thermal remote sensing (ARC LIEF grant administered by University of Tasmania) (2018-2019)

Abstract

New miniature sensors on-board airborne and underwater drones are revolutionising the way in which we collect information about the environment. Sensor calibration and characterisation is critical to the accuracy of hyperspectral and thermal data products, however, there is no central facility in Australia for this purpose. The aim of the project is to establish a calibration facility for the radiometric and spectral correction of hyperspectral and thermal sensors for ultrahigh-resolution remote sensing. The expected benefit to the Australian and international remote sening community is to significantly advance our capacity to collect high quality data and enable accurate monitoring of our dynamic environments in unprecedented detail.
