Enhancing student learning with 3D Radiology images (2016-2017)

Abstract

Radiology is central to the diagnosis and treatment of many important and common diseases. Each year at the University of Queensland biomedical, veterinary science, nursing and health and behavioural science students undertake over 2,000 student hours of training in interpretation of clinically relevant radiology images. The BEST Network biomedical image bank, Slice, houses over 2700 radiology images and is central to this practice. This project will develop an improved interface for 3D images, such as CT and MRI scans, within Slice. This will enable staff and students to navigate to any point in the 3D radiology image and to make and share notes using the Slice annotation tool on the dataset. It will incorporate local expertise and software that has been developed by UQ staff and will expand the use of these tools at UQ.
