Unlocking solar PV supply chain diversification by onshore module recycling (Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Program administered by UNSW) (2026-2028)

Abstract

This project aims to scale up and expand end-of-life solar panel recyclingt echnology in Indo-Pacific economies to unlock sustainable photovoltaicsolar panel manufacturing and supply chain diversification. Working with partners from Singapore, USA, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Korea, the key activities are numerical experiments, lab/plant experiments and technology analyses, and outcomes are: 1) develop highly efficient & flexible, high throughput and eco-friendly PV recycling technology; 2) redesign module for ready recycling usingrecycled materials; 3) provide scalable solutions to the challenges associated with recycling scale-up; 4) build up critical R&D mass and a highly skilled workforce in the Indo-Pacifics.
