Processable Microporous Membranes for High Temperature Hydrogen Separation (2027-2030)

Abstract

This project aims to develop novel processable microporous membranes to address key challenges in membrane fabrication and practical hydrogen separation, including membrane processing, defect control for scalable manufacture, thermal and mechanical stability. By utilising highly processable metal-organic framework (MOF) glasses, the project will deliver defect-free membranes that operate robustly at high temperatures. Expected outcomes include new fabrication methods for ultrathin MOF membranes, enhanced understanding of hydrogen transport in amorphous microporous networks, and scalable membrane modules. The project will advance Australia¿TM)s leadership in sustainable hydrogen technologies and contribute to low-emission manufacturing.
