Illuminating Dark Energy In the Nearby Universe (2027-2030)

Abstract

This project tackles one of the greatest mysteries in physics: what is Dark Energy, the unknown force driving the accelerating expansion of the Universe. Through Australian leadership in the two largest international galaxy surveys ever conducted, it will produce the most comprehensive dynamic map of the nearby Universe ¿ ten times larger than any before. Expected outcomes include definitive measurements of Dark Energy¿TM)s behavior over the past two billion years, potentially transforming our understanding of the fundamental forces of nature. This project will yield social and economic benefits through public engagement with science and the translation of advanced data-analysis innovations to industry applications in big data and technology.
