Disability, Welfare and Work (2007-2010)

Abstract

This project will provide the first national study of the experiences of people with a disability in finding work under the new welfare-to-work policies. It will offer qualitative accounts of the experiences of support staff within the employment services sector as well as offering insights into the ethical issue associated with the reforms. Participants will be drawn from both capital cities and regional centres in four Australian states. The project will make a major contribution to policy debates about welfare to work, about the ethical issues involved in extending mutual obligation policies to people with a disability, and about the shift towards greater conditionality of social citizenship status in Australia.'',
