Modelling quantum dynamics of electronic excited states in complex molecular materials (2008-2012)
Abstract
Aims. To characterise, model, and understand how the opto-electronic properties of complex molecular materials are determined by quantum effects such as entanglement and decoherence. Significance. This is a fundamental scientific challenge and is technologically important because such materials are the basis of the latest organic photovoltaic cells and light emitting diodes. An approach will be used that we have successfully applied to understand the properties of other advanced materials. Outcomes. The project will elucidate how quantum many-body physics modifies functional properties of a diverse range of complex molecular materials.
