The role of the MYB oncogene in mammary carcinogenesis (2008-2009)

Abstract

Tumours result from accumulated genetic changes, including those involving oncogenes, which can promote uncontrolled growth. This project will study the role of MYB oncogene in the most common - estrogen receptor positive - form of human breast cancer. Using cell and animal models it will determine whether and how the MYB oncogene contributes to this disease. The results will not only help us understand breast cancer but may provide targets against which new drugs can be developed.
